Certified Financial Planner™

The Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP) accreditation is recognised globally as the gold standard for financial planning professionals.

It is awarded by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) and is only granted where the holder can demonstrate they meet rigorous international competency, ethical and professional practice standards.

Qualifications

J09 (Paraplanning)
At the end of this unit, candidates should be able to demonstrate their ability to understand the role of the paraplanner in providing financial services, and evaluate and analyse the customer’s financial circumstances to provide potential solutions.

J10 (Discretionary Investment Management)
At the end of this unit, candidates should be able to analyse and apply financial information and portfolio management skills.

R03 (Personal Taxation)
This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of the UK taxation system, and the ability to analyse the taxation treatment of individuals and trusts during the investment advice process.

R04 (Pensions and Retirement Planning)
This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of and ability to analyse pension and retirement planning issues.

R06 (Financial Planning Practice)
This qualification helps advisers develop and demonstrate their financial planning capabilities.

CF1 (UK Financial Services, Regulation and Ethics)
This qualification develops an understanding of the financial services industry, including regulation and legislation.

CF4 (Retirement Planning)
This examination assesses a knowledge and understanding of the various pension products, the pension tax regime and retirement needs.

FA5 (Individual Savings Account Administration)
This qualification develops an understanding of investment issues, together with detailed guidance on the administration of individual savings accounts.

GR1 (Group Risk)
This examination assesses an understanding of group risks, including the operations of such schemes and their features and taxation.

R01 (Financial Services, Regulation and Ethics)
This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry, including regulation, legislation and the Code of Ethics.

R02 (Investment Principles)
This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of investment products and the application of the investment advice process.

R05 (Financial Protection)
This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of and ability to analyse financial protection planning issues.

Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning

Certificate in Investment Operations
This level 3 certificate provides essential knowledge and skills for those working in a range of administrative and operational investment roles.

Certificate in Financial Services (General Route)
This route develops knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry in general, including regulation and legislation, and the fundamental aspects of customer service, administration and marketing in financial services, and key retail investment products.

Certificate in Financial Planning (Life & Pensions route)
The life and pensions route builds knowledge and understanding of the sector’s role and its activities. It considers important customer needs, solutions and products, and how individuals and organisations work within the regulatory and legislative environment.

Certificate in Paraplanning
This level 4 certificate offers a dedicated qualification route, developing paraplanning skills, expertise and advanced technical knowledge in several key advisory areas.

At the end of this unit, candidates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of: how the economic environment and individual company performance affects investment performance and investment decision-making; how risk is measured and managed; the main principles governing how to construct an investment portfolio; the range of investment management services, how their performance is evaluated and their regulatory environment.

R01 (Financial Services, Regulation and Ethics)
This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry, including regulation, legislation and the Code of Ethics.

R04 (Pensions and Retirement Planning)
This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of and ability to analyse pension and retirement planning issues.

CF6 (Certificate in Mortgage Advice)
This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of the UK regulation environment in the financial services industry, mortgage products, repayment options and the giving of mortgage advice.

FP1 (Financial Services and their Regulation)
Assesses an understanding of the financial services industry, including regulation and legislation.

FP2 (Protection, Savings and Investment)
Assesses an understanding of protection, savings and investment products.

FP3 (Identifying and Satisfying Client Needs)
Assesses an understanding of conducting a fact-find, assessing the client’s needs, and recommending specific (appropriate) financial products to meet those needs.

Having completed her bachelor’s degree in International Business with Economics at the University of Strathclyde, Ellen joined Murphy Wealth for an internship during Summer 2023.

After travelling and living in Australia for a year, Ellen knew she wanted to come back to the Murphy Wealth team and begin her career in financial services. Outside of work Ellen enjoys travelling, running, and spending time with friends and family.

Reade joined our team in April 2024. He graduated from the University of Brighton with a degree in Chemistry and is currently studying for a Diploma in Regulated Financial planning with the CII alongside his work.

Reade is passionate about understanding your stories and goals. In his spare time he enjoys cooking for friends and family, hiking, and running.

Jay Tallis

Jay has worked in financial services for 17 years, spending 15 of those as a paraplanner.

In his role, he discusses cases with the financial planners, investigates and researches appropriate solutions, prepares annual planning meetings and new business packs, and then implements recommendations.

Sarah began her career in financial services when she was 16 years old, and she has worked in positions ranging from office junior and administration manager to
financial planner.

Sarah gets to know clients and ensures they understand the value we can add. She demonstrates this through cashflow modelling. Sarah ensures all clients experience the best level of service.

Fiona has more than 20 years of experience in financial services and has been with us since 2018. Her role covers all aspects of HR and operations.

However, for Fiona, her most important role is to deliver a Human First™ approach to the team, who are all at different stages of their journeys, by helping them to realise their career aspirations and personal goals.

She also drives our client experience, oversees board operations and manages compliance and governance.

John Moran
Commercial Director

John has more than 35 years of experience in various roles, including chairman, non-executive and CEO. His career has spanned professional services, investment banking, business consultancy and property investment and management.

John guides the board to deliver on our Human First™ strategy and ensure the required governance is embedded throughout the business. He uses his experience to help entrepreneurial clients with their businesses when issues or opportunities arise.
