Murphy Wealth CEO joins Board of MND Scotland

We are delighted to announce that our CEO, Adrian Murphy, has today been appointed to the Board of MND (Motor Neuron Disease) Scotland.

His role will be to assist the Charity in achieving its many objectives. MND Scotland’s work includes fundraising, research and providing physical, financial, practical and emotional support to those affected by the debilitating and terminal condition. Here's what he had to say about his new appointment:

I am honoured to join the Board and I look forward to bringing my energy and enthusiasm to the role. This is a cruel progressive disease which has a devastating impact on the daily lives of those suffering and their families. My own brother was diagnosed in 2018 so I have first-hand knowledge of the havoc and pain it causes.  I have the greatest admiration and respect for not only those who are enduring this illness, but also for the valuable work carried out by MND Scotland to alleviate the distress and misery of those affected by it. The number of cases is increasing every year and it is vital that a cure be found.

I am also a huge fan of Doddie Weir who has done a sterling job of heightening the profile of MND, despite coping with his own condition. The more publicity the disease gets, the more chance of raising funds for research into a cure, plus it helps the public to understand Motor Neuron Disease. It's not a name or illness which was familiar to many a few years ago. As well as raising funds for research, the non-profitable charity MND Scotland does a fantastic job to help sufferers, whether that is providing equipment, therapy, counselling, advice, grants, communication devices, holiday facilities, physiotherapy or just being a shoulder to cry on. The Charity provides what the NHS can't.

I am really looking forward to meeting the rest of the Board and the care and fundraising teams of MND Scotland, and working alongside them to add to the excellent work they already do. As CEO of Murphy Wealth I am used to developing and managing strategic partnerships, creating new opportunities and raising the profile of the business. I want to bring these skills to the table to further the objectives of MND Scotland, in the hope that one day they will find a cure.
